Thank
you so much for coming. I’m excited about
how much we can share in this new website.
I'm going
to speak very frankly in these pages: About myself,
my work, the business of writing, and of course
my new book, City of Glory,
which will be out in January. (There's a fiendishly
clever and fun way for twelve of you to win an advance copy, if you go to the Prize Quiz page in the Extras menu. Along with a chance
for one of you to chat with me for half an hour,
about my work or yours. There’s also an excerpt
from the new novel for those who can’t wait.)
If by chance you’re a budding novelist, I love this chance to talk to you
about writing, and give you a glimpse of my process so you can see if it works
for you. I’ve posted the matrix to City of Glory and
some of my other books in The Business of Writing
section. (Matrixes are what I do instead of an
outline.) But be warned, SPOILERS! So don’t
read if you hate knowing what happens.I’m
soliciting great ideas for the title to the fourth
book in the series – the one I’m
writing now – so I’ve |
posted the matrix to that as
well, though the book is barely out of the caterpillar
stage.
Thanks
to this new website and to Mel, my great webmaster,
I’m also able
to share some insights into the business of getting published, which may help
your career move forward. (As some of you know, that’s the other string
to my bow, and what I do when I’m not writing.)
I’m
honored that you’ve
taken time from your
busy life to visit
this site. As Tintin,
the pirate, says
in City of Glory, Laissez les bons temps
rouler! Let the good times roll… (Though when he says it, he’s
the only one who’s having a good time.)
